SEO Suite or Dedicated AI Visibility Tracker: Which One Should Track Your Brand?
Stay in your SEO suite if you already pay for it and its AI add-on tracks the assistants your buyers use. Buy a dedicated tracker when you need more prompts or an assistant the suite does not query. On October 5, 2026, Semrush listed its AI Visibility Toolkit at $99 per month with 25 tracked prompts.

Key takeaways
The short version of this page, in the order the sections below develop it. Each point is stated here in full so it can be read without the rest of the page, and the section that argues it gives the measurement and the source behind it.
- Two published limits decide it: how many prompts the plan tracks and which assistants it queries. Read both on the vendor's own page before comparing prices.
- On the entry plans we read on October 5, 2026, only Ahrefs Lite made ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity all available, inside a small check allowance. The others needed an add-on or a higher tier.
- A prompt is not the same unit everywhere. Ahrefs bills checks, Scrunch caps responses, and Peec AI multiplies prompts by models and frequency.
- Published limits say nothing about accuracy. We have not tested these tools and make no claim about which one measures better.
The entry prompt limits we found span 5 to 100 tracked prompts. In our own study a single category needed twelve questions before the answers stabilised, which puts the smallest plans below the floor for one category.

Should you track AI visibility in your SEO suite or buy a dedicated tracker?
Stay in the SEO suite if you already pay for it and its AI add-on tracks enough prompts on the assistants your buyers use; buy a dedicated tracker when one of those two limits falls short. Both are published, so the decision can be made from pricing pages before any demo.
People searching for the best AI visibility platforms with SEO capabilities are asking this question in a different form. We read seven vendors' own pages on October 5, 2026. We have not tested any of these tools, and nothing here says which one measures more accurately.
| Criterion | SEO suite with an AI add-on | Dedicated AI visibility tracker |
|---|---|---|
| What the invoice covers | AI answer tracking plus keyword, backlink and site audit tools (Semrush also sells its AI toolkit alone) | AI answer tracking only |
| Published entry price, monthly billing | Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit $99; Ahrefs Lite $129; SE Ranking Core $129.00 | Otterly Lite $29; Scrunch Core $250; Profound has a free 7-day trial, then custom pricing |
| Tracked prompts at entry | 5 (Ahrefs Lite) to 100 (SE Ranking Core) | 15 (Otterly Lite) to 125 (Scrunch Core) |
| Assistants at entry | ChatGPT and Google's AI surfaces on all three; Claude named only by Ahrefs | ChatGPT on Otterly, Profound and Scrunch; Gemini on the Profound trial; both selectable on Peec AI; Claude only as an add-on or on enterprise plans |
| How to get more | Add-on prompt packs or a higher suite tier | A higher plan, extra prompt packs or per-assistant add-ons |
| Fits when | The SEO team owns AI visibility and already uses the suite daily | AI visibility has its own owner, a longer prompt list or a need for assistants the suite omits |
What do SEO suites publish about their AI add-ons?
The three suites we read publish a price, a prompt limit and a list of assistants, and the prompt limits at entry range from 5 to 100. That spread matters more than the price difference, because a limit of five tracked prompts cannot cover a category's buying questions however cheap the plan is. Details also sit under the headline rows: one suite sells 50 extra prompts as a monthly add-on, and two of its help pages list the assistants differently.
| Suite plan | Published monthly price | Tracked prompts | Assistants named for prompt tracking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | $99 | 25 | ChatGPT and Google AI Mode on both help pages; AI Overviews on one, Gemini on the other |
| Semrush One Starter (SEO and AI toolkits bundled) | $199 | 50 | Same as the toolkit |
| Ahrefs Lite | $129 | 5, as 150 checks per month | ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Claude |
| SE Ranking Core | $129.00 | 100 | 5 LLMs, unnamed in the plan table; the tracker page names AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity |
Some details sit under those rows. Semrush sells 50 more tracked prompts for $60 per month. Two of its help pages list the prompt tracking engines differently: the Semrush One page gives Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and ChatGPT, and places Perplexity and Gemini under Brand Performance reports, while the Prompt Tracking page names ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini. Ask Semrush which list applies to your plan.
Ahrefs counts checks, not prompts. Its Brand Radar page states that 5 prompts on 1 platform equal 150 checks per month and that Claude consumes 8 checks per update. So the Lite allowance equals 5 prompts on one platform daily, and each added assistant draws on the same pool. Ahrefs lets you set the cadence per platform to daily, weekly or monthly. Ahrefs also sells standalone custom prompt packages from $50 per month.
What do dedicated trackers publish about limits and assistants?
The dedicated trackers we read publish 15 to 125 tracked prompts on their entry plans, a range that overlaps the suites', and those plans do not cover every assistant either. Otterly and Scrunch start with four engines and neither set includes Claude or Gemini. Peec AI lets you choose 3 models. For brands, Profound's page lists a free trial and a custom enterprise plan.
| Tracker plan | Published monthly price | Tracked prompts | Assistants on that plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly Lite | $29 | 15 | ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot; Claude, Gemini and AI Mode as paid add-ons |
| Otterly Standard | $189 | 100 | Same four; Gemini add-on $59 and Claude add-on $109 per month |
| Peec AI Starter | $95/month on monthly billing, in dollars as the page displayed | 50 | Choose 3 of ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini, Naver AI; Perplexity as an add-on model |
| Profound Trial | Free for 7 days | 50, run daily | ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews |
| Scrunch Core | $250 | 125 | ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot |
Above those plans the limits stop being public. Profound's enterprise plan lists capability for Claude, Perplexity and others at custom pricing. Scrunch's enterprise plan lists 9 LLMs, Claude and Gemini among them, with no price shown. Peec AI's enterprise plan lets you choose from all models, and its plan table names Claude only in that column. None of those three publishes a price for full coverage.
Does either option cover every assistant your buyers use?
On the entry plans we read, no: neither category covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity together without an add-on, a higher tier or a trade-off. Ahrefs Lite comes closest. This is the criterion we apply to both columns, and it comes from a metric we defined, Model Agreement.
Model Agreement is the share of companies named by at least one assistant that every assistant names. We measured it across four assistants in our S&P 100 study, and the assistants did not name the same set of companies. ChatGPT returned fewer usable answers than the other three in that run, which pushes agreement down by an amount we cannot state, so we do not lean on the size of the gap. The direction is enough for a buying decision: a tool that queries two assistants cannot tell you what the other two say.
Applied to the tables above, the four-assistant set looks like this.
- Semrush: the pages we read name Claude only as a crawler its site audit checks for, not as a tracked assistant, and place Perplexity outside prompt tracking.
- Ahrefs: all four are available for prompts, but the Lite allowance of 150 checks equals 5 prompts on one platform daily, and Claude consumes 8 checks per update. Covering all four means fewer prompts or a slower cadence.
- SE Ranking: ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity trackers are listed; a Claude tracker is not.
- Otterly: ChatGPT and Perplexity are included; Claude and Gemini are separate paid add-ons.
- Peec AI: three models on Starter, from a list that includes ChatGPT and Gemini; Perplexity is an add-on model and Claude appears only in the enterprise column.
- Profound: the trial covers ChatGPT and Gemini; Claude and Perplexity are listed on the enterprise plan.
- Scrunch: ChatGPT and Perplexity on Core; Claude and Gemini on the enterprise plan.
If your buyers use only ChatGPT and Google's AI surfaces, most of these plans are enough. If you do not know which assistants they use, find that out first.
When does this comparison not apply?
This comparison does not apply to enterprise contracts, to annual billing, or to any question about measurement quality. Each limit changes how far the tables can be trusted: every vendor also sells custom tiers with no public price, a prompt is not one unit across vendors, a published limit says how much is collected rather than how well, and every figure is the monthly-billing price shown on October 5, 2026. There is also a third option outside both columns.
- Custom tiers. Semrush, Profound, Scrunch and Peec AI all sell enterprise plans with custom limits or pricing. A negotiated contract can reverse any row here.
- Units. A prompt is not one unit across vendors. Ahrefs bills one check per prompt, per platform, per location, per update. Scrunch caps Core at 125 unique prompts and 5,000 responses per month. Peec AI computes monthly answers from prompts, active models and tracking frequency. Convert to answers collected per month before comparing.
- Accuracy. A published limit says how much is collected, not how well. Ask each vendor how many times a prompt is run per reading and whether you can read the raw answers.
- Dates. Every price is the monthly-billing figure shown on October 5, 2026.
There is also a third option outside both columns. A tracker reports where you stand; it does not change the sources assistants draw on. UPAI is a service, not a dashboard: we run the check by hand and then do the work of getting a company into those sources, which suits teams that want the result more than the tool. Our overview of tracking tools covers the dashboard route in more detail.
How to decide from the pricing pages
You can decide from the pricing pages in six steps, in order, all of them done from the vendors' own published pages before you speak to anyone. List the assistants your buyers actually use, count the unbranded questions a buyer asks, read what your existing suite plan already covers, and price the gap against both the suite's add-on and a dedicated tracker. The comparison usually resolves itself at step two, when the question count meets the prompt limit.
- List the assistants. Write down which assistants your buyers use. If you do not know, ask recent customers or assume all four.
- Count the prompts. Draft the unbranded questions a buyer asks before choosing a vendor in your category. That count is your prompt requirement.
- Read your suite plan. On the vendor's pricing and help pages, find the tracked prompt limit and the assistants named for prompt tracking on the plan you already pay for.
- Price the gap. If the suite falls short, compare its prompt add-on against the dedicated plan that covers the same prompts and assistants, add-ons included.
- Normalize the unit. Convert both to answers collected per month: prompts, times assistants, times runs.
- Run a manual baseline. Before paying for either, check by hand whether ChatGPT mentions your brand on ten of those questions. It shows whether you need a tracker yet.
Questions people ask next
These are the follow-ups we are asked most often once the answer above has landed. The same rule applies to each: where a figure appears, its source and year sit in the same sentence, and where we do not know something we say so rather than estimate it.
- Is the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit included in a Semrush SEO subscription?
- Semrush sells it as a separate toolkit and also inside a bundle. Its help page lists the AI Visibility Toolkit at $99 per month with 25 prompts for prompt tracking, and describes Semrush One as the plan that bundles the SEO and AI Visibility toolkits. Read on October 5, 2026; confirm what your own plan includes before you buy.
- Do SEO suites track Claude?
- Of the three suites we read, only Ahrefs names Claude as an assistant it tracks: its Brand Radar page says prompts are available for ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude, and that Claude consumes 8 checks per update. On the Semrush and SE Ranking pages we read on October 5, 2026, Claude is not among the engines listed for prompt tracking.
- Can a dedicated tracker replace an SEO suite?
- No. The dedicated trackers in this comparison sell AI answer tracking. The four pricing pages we read on October 5, 2026 do not list keyword rank tracking or backlink research. If your team still does SEO, a dedicated tracker is a second subscription, not a replacement.
- How many prompts do we need to track?
- We do not know of a published standard. Count the unbranded questions a buyer would ask before choosing a vendor in your category, then multiply by the assistants you care about. That product, not the plan name, tells you which tier you need.
- Are these prices still current?
- They are what each vendor's page showed on October 5, 2026, at monthly billing. These pages change often and most offer a lower rate for annual billing. Treat every figure here as dated and confirm it at the source linked next to it.
